Watched FOODinc last night…

food inc poster 202x300 Watched FOODinc last night...and now I’m very scared.

What started out as a night with the heat on, curled under a blanket, drinking a glass of red wine innocently browsing through the “on demand” movies for a relaxing and humorous feel good movie, quickly transformed into a tear-jerking-heart-wrenching-too scared to look at the screen-calling my family to alert them right away-sort of night. I like to think of myself as a VERY conscious consumer, I hold myself to a strict vegetarian diet consisting mostly of fruit and vegetables, and do my best to only eat locally and organically, choosing a local market/farm stand over whole foods any day. I don’t eat fast food, I don’t smoke shwag, and I certainly don’t drink budweiser – ya dig?

Let me just say this, no matter who you are or how much knowledge you think you might have about the foods you are putting into your body, take a second and watch this film. This is not some sort of Michael Moore hype’d up super extreme liberal BS, this is a totally legit documentary that works to shed light on this crazy industry and more importantly on the power that WE as the consumers have over the decisions that are made “for us” every day by big business and the controlling government (which we learn are really one of the same).

If you eat food, which presumably you do, it will serve you well to watch this film (perhaps with a blankey and someone to help cover your eyes during the scary parts).

Seems like I’m not the only Yogi that recently watched FOODinc – I got Yahoo Yoga Expert Dave Romanelli’s “Yea Dave” email newsletter the other day and he had THIS to say about the film – for those of you not familiar with Dave, his emails tend to be a bit outrageous ;)

There are a number of ways one can get involved in the fight for fair and healthy foods – click HERE to check out FOODinc’s recommendations on ways to fight the good fight!
