As a global community it is great that we can all come togeather to help make a bit of positive change in the world and help out those in need – get out there and help Yogi!

It’s truly amazing what people can accomplish when they join together and act. The call to support Haiti in this crisis has been resonating around the world, and we’re hoping the outpouring of assistance will keep flowing from caring communities to those in need. We’re especially proud of the way the yoga community has been swift to organize and collaborate in their own efforts to send relief. While we try to do our part to contribute (please vote for the charity tee), we are in awe of the events planned to raise money and organizations springing up out of pure compassion and the will to help. Go Yogactivism!
One very special endeavor is Yoga4Trauma’s Project Haiti, a collaborative effort to bring therapeutic yoga to the people of Haiti. Joining forces and heading up the mission are Sue Jones of Yoga Hope and Maggie Juliano of Sprout Yoga, who have enlisted an amazing crew including David Emerson of the Trauma Center in Boston, Mark Lilly of Street Yoga and Jennifer Cohen of Little Flower Yoga, all of whom have taken to task dealing with the mental/emotional effects of this disaster. There is an overwhelming amount of destruction, but under the layers of physical debris are the tattered emotions and mental turmoil of the people who must rebuild, inside and out. Project Haiti is here to help. If you’d like to get involved please check out their new website and learn more about how you can do your part through yoga. And spread the word!
On top of this, yogis are uniting all over our town of NYC, gathering together to raise funds and show their support. Since tomorrow is Yoga Day USA, here’s hoping karma yoga, the yoga of action, will give everyone a kick in the pants!

Off the Mat Yoga for Haiti
Join Off the Mat, Into the World and Greenfinds to raise money for relief efforts in Haiti. Open-level yoga classes by donation will be offered Thursday Jan 21 – Sun Jan 24th culminating Sunday afternoon with yoga classes, eco-friendly shopping, music/DJs, and a great raffle! Proceeds go to support relief efforts in Haiti.
