Aww yeah…time to get Bhaktified!!! It’s gonna be a party at the Bhakti Center all weekend long!!! In honor of Lord Krishna’s birthday, Guaravani is hosting a 3-day Bhakti Weekend Immersion. See all the details below from his website:
It’s a celebration! The sacred birthday of Lord Krishna is the perfect excuse for a party, bhakti-style! Join us from August 27th (7pm) – 29th at the Bhakti Center (25 1st Ave, Manhattan) for a packed weekend of activities led by Gaura Vani, yoga instructor Keli Lalita, and a host of special guests. Together we’ll dive into the ocean of bhakti culture, exploring dance, music, storytelling, traditional dress, food, worship and yoga.
Each day will begin with a unique yoga class, led by Keli Lalita (Karuna Shakti Yoga, NY), incorporating both dynamic asana practice as well as bhakti philosophy. We will then divide into groups for dance and kirtan music lessons with Gaura Vani and As Kindred Spirits. This is your chance to try out traditional instruments like the mrdanga drum, karatals and harmonium, or learn beautiful devotional dance steps and mudras.
Our time together wouldn’t be complete without an essential part of bhakti culture – feasting! We’ll be learning how to cook one of the most ancient Indian foods as well as how to perform the puja (offering ceremony) to present our preparations to Lord Krishna before enjoying them together. Delicious, freshly prepared vegetarian/vegan meals will be provided daily by the Bhakti Cafe downstairs.
