He is protecting a BIG BUSINESS - JOHN FRIEND YOGA, it is not really Anusara yoga. Look at anyone's website that is an Anusara yoga teacher, and you will see what I mean. It go something like this.....I got in yoga, it was good....but then I meet JOHN FRIEND, I knew I had found my teacher. He changed my life, everything is different now. Really, come on people. The points the article made aren't nearly as strong as Mr. Friend portrays them to be. It merely pointed out that Anusara makes money, has decidedly modern elements, and has its roots in Iyengar; that the split between Friend and Iyengar was not entirely amicable; and that Friend himself is a large part of Anusara's attraction. These are all fair points. Frankly, I'm shocked the article upset anyone, which I thought was fair and mostly positive. If some think otherwise, I wonder if they are uncomfortable with the notion that their chosen path is anything less than perfect. People, including Mr. Friend, are being too sensitive.
