Dahn Yoga Practice
Two weeks ago I was stuck in the airport so I decided to read December’s Glamour magazine. I know, it’s the pinnacle of journalistic integrity, but I needed mindless reading material. I came across an article about Dahn Yoga, which I must be out of the loop because I wasn’t even aware of its existence, and some disturbing stories involving some former practitioners

Dahn Yoga
. However, the article was extremely interesting and a bit unnerving. Click on the below link and leave comments about the article or Dahn yoga in general. I would like to get a sense of it’s presence here in the Northeast. http://www.glamour.com/magazine/2009/12/the-scary-yoga-obsession

interesting and somewhat disturbing article. however, i urge people not to assume that all dahn yoga is like this and so corrupt. i’ve never attended any classes, but a really sweet and kind korean family in boulder, colorado has an amazing tea shop that i go to sometimes that serves great korean food and they also offer dahn energy yoga classes. a naropa university professor and mentor of mine goes to the classes regularly and she really enjoys them and says only good things about the classes and the people running them. i would hate for good-hearted people like them to get a bad rap so i just wanted to offer another perspective.
Last night I saw that CNN is doing a three part special on Dahn Yoga. They did a special investigation on the centers and the founder Ilchi Lee.

This is a blessing to accidentally find your site and link to the Glamour article on Dahn yoga. I paid $29 for the 1 hr introductory class yesterday. I never heard of Korean yoga before and when I asked the teacher/owner her credentials, she said she’s been teaching for 6 years. She was a nice woman but determined to get me to tell her deep emotional issues, which I partly revealed to her. I enjoyed the intro yoga stretches and techniques she showed me.
However, I was not convinced that I should sign up for the classes, and at $395 for 3 months, 2x a week, I felt it was too much too soon, and I hate signing these types of contracts. One Intro Lesson does not convince me to sign a contract for 3, 6, 12 or 24 months. It’s way too much to commit to something I barely heard of.
Thank you so much for the link. By the way, the place I went to was now called ” The Life Yoga” but it is part of the Brain & Brain Holistic Yoga group owned by Mr. I. Lee.
